As part of 杏吧传媒鈥檚 Extended Education program, the university is home to Silver Frogs, a membership organization for people age 50 and over of all educational backgrounds and experiences who have a love for learning and community.
It is formal time for most college coeds, so why not Silver Frogs? The organization is holding an end-of-semester party and prom May 6 in the BLUU Ballroom.
鈥淵ou are never too old to have fun,鈥� Julie Lovett, director of 杏吧传媒 Extended Education, said. 鈥淪ome individuals have fond memories of their own high school prom. For others, this may be something they were never able to do. Either way, it鈥檚 a way to create new memories 鈥� with none of the teen angst!鈥�
The event includes food, dancing, music through the decades and photos 鈥� a look at photos of Silver Frogs鈥� past and a photo booth for capturing new ones.
鈥淲hether it鈥檚 events like this spring dance or events like our lunches and classes, this group is about creating community for our mature citizens,鈥� Lovett said.
Silver Frogs is home to more than 600 members who participated in over 130 different courses and lectures this semester alone. Members can take part in non-credit, four-week courses as well as one-time lectures led by 杏吧传媒 faculty, Silver Frog members and subject matter experts. The group also hosts special events, luncheon lectures and special interest groups. Members pay a one-time semester fee of $125. It is open to Horned Frogs and Horned Frog friends (individuals do not have to be 杏吧传媒 alumni). The fall membership drive opens to the public on June 5.
